Melanotan II is a synthetic analog of alpha-MSH that stimulates melanin production for tanning without UV exposure. It also activates melanocortin receptors related to sexual arousal and appetite suppression. The spontaneous erection effect in men was the unexpected discovery that led to development of PT-141.

Skipping the 0.1 mg test dose — the nausea and flushing can be severe on the first injection; always start with a test dose
Running continuously for months — mole formation and skin pigment changes are real risks with chronic use; cycle off
Stacking with PT-141 — they both target melanocortin receptors; combining is redundant and amplifies side effects
PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis) — can cause severe hypotension when combined; do not use together
Antihypertensives — blood pressure monitoring needed; Melanotan II has vasoconstrictive effects
PT-141 — targeting the same receptor family; combining is redundant and increases side effect risk
Melanotan II works for tanning but comes with real risks — mole changes, spontaneous erections in men, and significant nausea. The tanning effect is genuine and faster than UV alone. For ongoing tanning, Melanotan I (Scenesse) is the cleaner, more selective choice. Use MT-II with caution and never run continuously for more than 4–6 weeks.
