Stroke recovery
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of ACTH (amino acids 4-7 + Pro-Gly-Pro extension) developed in Russia and used clinically for stroke recovery and cognitive disorders. It dramatically upregulates BDNF and NGF — the primary neurotrophins for brain plasticity — and improves attention, memory consolidation, and learning.
Nasal irritation
Initial anxiety (rare, at high doses)
Vivid dreams
Mild irritability
Starting at too high a dose — 100–200 mcg per nostril is sufficient initially; going too high too fast causes overstimulation and anxiety
Not refrigerating the solution — intranasal Semax degrades at room temperature; store cold always
Using standard Semax when NA-Semax-Amidate is available — the acetylated amidate version is significantly more potent and longer-acting at half the dose
Stimulants (amphetamines, modafinil) — may cause overstimulation; don't combine without reducing doses
Nootropics (racetams, Noopept) — additive cognitive enhancement; reduce individual doses when combining
SSRIs — generally safe; Semax may help with SSRI-associated cognitive blunting
Semax is Russia's most clinically validated nootropic — used medically for stroke and cognitive disorders in hospitals. For performance use, NA-Semax-Amidate at 100–200 mcg provides noticeably stronger and longer effects than standard Semax at 600 mcg. The BDNF upregulation is the most documented mechanism: measurable increases in memory formation and processing speed with consistent use.
